The whole person approach: How experience design at IMEX works; Are you a storyteller or a storyfeeler?; How do you create joy?; How to keep up as we count down
It’s a big show—and a big question! Essentially, it’s about taking a people-first rather than a show-first approach. It’s about designing with empathy, about considering everyone who comes to our show. We may not always crack this completely, but our freedom to experiment with and explore the latest in experience design, makes every show a new opportunity to find new ways to delight, uplift and inspire.

The whole person approach: How experience design at IMEX works
Experience design at IMEX begins with the whole person. Not an “exhibitor” or an “attendee” but a person with very human needs, who needs to take breathers, catch up on work, get around easily. Who appreciates moments of wonder, time to reflect, unplanned opportunities to engage. Events are collective experiences, so let’s design for people, not labels.
Although we might like to think otherwise (me especially!), as humans we’re much more emotional than we are rational or logical. Founder of the School of Experience Design and IMEX Frankfurt 2024 speaker, Pigalle Tavakkoli, tells us why we need to lean into our emotional side, and “story feel” rather than story tell.
85% of people are actively seeking experiences that bring them joy and happiness. But how equipped are we, as event planners, to deliver that joy? Three of our expert experience design speakers share their emotion-rich, multisensory, magical experience insight ahead of their sessions at IMEX Frankfurt 2024.
With just a few weeks (or is it days?!) to go before IMEX Frankfurt 2024, we’ve launched our new News Hub to coral all news from IMEX HQ and from our global exhibitor line-up into one easy-to-read place. Plus, we’re spotlighting different perspectives—from happy Blue Zones to biodiverse biophilic cities—it’s all here at IMEX.
PS. Coming soon to all those coming to IMEX Frankfurt—Storycraft Lab's Experience Profiles™ quiz for show recommendations based on your personal Experience Profile type.
