The opportunity that we as event planners have to provide a platform for good, to drive positive impact and to contribute to a greater cause is one of the key reasons why I work in events. Figuring out how to best use this privilege, and how we can work together with our amazing community of partners to achieve this, gives me daily purpose.
And at a time when many are sharing messages of gratitude and appreciation, this is the perfect moment for me to say a heartfelt thank you to our community for everything each of you do to reshape our world and our future for the better.

Engaging the next generation
Seeing the news coming out of COP29 in Baku as it came to a close last week, it was easy to feel disheartened. But there were glimpses of hope and messages of positivity—the strongest of these coming from the next generation—a generation standing on the brink of an uncertain future. And we, as event planners, are in a unique position to support them.
Leaning into the learnings from our first Emergent Leadership Day at IMEX America, we asked our Leadership Day moderator, the ever-brilliant Holly Ransom to share insights from her conversations with CEOs and senior leaders at thriving organizations. Responses were remarkably consistent—essentially it comes down to one critical element…
It’s uplifting to see that the steady shift toward purpose-driven travel and experiences is picking up pace. A positive transformation that’s reshaping both travel and events, and one that we explored at IMEX America 2024 through our Impact Talking Point track. Beyond the bucket-list there’s a whole world of opportunities to make a difference out there—opportunities which travelers and attendees are increasingly keen to explore, me included.
One of my absolute favorite spaces at IMEX America this year was the Neu Project Resilience Space, powered by Google Xi and Hello! Destination Management. The blissfully serene spot (with décor that somehow reminded me of Ibiza’s supremely chilled-out Balearic style) gave our attendees the space they needed to decompress and step away from over-stimulation. We asked Hello! Destination Management and Google Xi to share the story behind the space.
